When Harper Mathews gets drunk with a friend and hacks into her boss’s personal accounts, Arturo (Ace) Charles Easton gives her a choice. Work as part of his secret hacking team, searching for clues to the people who infiltrated a weather control program, or face unemployment and jail.
But working as part of this team isn’t all that Ace demands from Harper. He also expects her in his bed, when he wants her there, how he decides to make love to her, and for as long as he desires.
Ace is part of a group of friends financing the efforts to put a stop to The Madeline Project. These men have power, resources, and money, but they’re as ruthless and possessive as the storms ravaging Earth.
They call themselves the Weathermen…
Ace is the owner and head of ACE communications. He and a group of his friends make up the Weathermen. Ace is used to having women for a short time and once they get serious tossing them aside. He finds that someone has hacked into his personal records and when he finds out who it is he is excited. He has wanted Harper for a long time and he knows he has her right where he wants her.
Harper works at ACE communications. She has always been aware of the boss but doesn’t really know him. She fantasizes about him though. She knows he is a no commitment man. She finds his ex-girlfriend in the bathroom crying and she takes pity on her. They go out drinking and Harper decides to hack into his personal system to dig up dirt on Ace. Unfortunately this puts her in a desperate position. Ace blackmails her and gives her a choice either go to jail or work with a hacker group he has and be at his beckon call for whatever he wants. Yes including sex anyway he wants it, wherever he wants it. She really has no choice. She doesn’t want to lose her job or go to jail.
Once Ace has Harper he discovers he doesn’t want to let her go. Harper holds herself back because she is afraid of falling for him. He is sending her mixed signals and she isn’t sure what to think.
The weathermen including Ace are trying to find out who has stolen the Madeline Project. This is supposed to control the weather. This story is a futuristic one that takes place in the future. The planet’s surface has been destroyed and everyone has to live underground except for the extremely wealthy. Ace and the weathermen dream of going out into the sun and breathing real fresh air not piped in air. He remembers how it was when he was younger.
Will these two fall in love or will Ace grow tired of Harper and get rid of her?
Will they find the Madeline project??
I really like this book. I was surprised because this isn’t a genre I usually read. I loved how Harper was open and honest with Ace. I also liked how Ace allowed himself to get to know Harper and he actually let her into his heart. Harper was a strong character and very smart. She discovered similarities on different message boards which led the different IT groups to start looking for the hackers responsible for the virus.
I can’t wait to see what Ravenna Tate has in store for the next book in this series.
