Charlene Wilson Interview

November 23, 2010 Feature, Interview 0

Hello Charlene Wilson. Thank you for taking the time to stop by. I am honored to have you here.

To start with, would you mind telling the readers a little about yourself?

I live in a small community in Arkansas. I’ve worked in a variety of setting from bookkeeping to detention deputy. Wow to the array of personalities I’ve met! I’m a mother of two beautiful children, a bird and an adorable cat.

Your newest release is Cornerstone Deep, what can you tell us about it?

Cornerstone Deep is about eternal loves, soul mates, love that survives death. The Shilo Brothers are from a different dimension, one gifted with powers. It’s normal for them to, once they find their soul mate, to reunite with them in their next life and continue to progress together. But Cole, James and Vincent are serving in Cornerstone Deep and have accepted that reincarnation didn’t exist there…until Cole meets Anna.

How did you come up with the idea for Cornerstone Deep?

The idea for Cornerstone Deep came from a prompt based contest on an online writing community. I entered and received placement for the short story. The story came directly from a dream. The scene in the alley plays out that nightmare very closely.

Tell us a little about your main character Cole. How does he differ from other characters in paranormal books?

Well, aside from being from a gifted dimension assigned as a Sentinel for Cornerstone Deep, Cole is so lost-lovesick that he can’t move on. And with their extremely long life spans, he’s taken on a very lonely life. He tries to let others in his heart, but they always fall short of the soul mate he seeks. Once he finds her again, nothing stands in his way of getting her back. Not even the Gods.

What interested you in writing paranormal romance books?

I love what magic can add to romance. And in Cole’s case, he took it to a level of enchantment for his love that is hard to top.

When did you know that you wanted to be a writer? Were your family and friends supportive?

I wrote short stories and plays as a teen. I guess it was only fitting to follow through. My family is very supportive. Especially my beautiful daughters.

What is the writing process like for you? Do you have a particular writing process or any writing rituals?

Probably the oddest ritual I have is the search for a face to go with my characters. I find them all over and plaster them on my wall around my computer. I’m one of those writers whose characters speak to them. They run the show. (Charlene I don’t find that odd, I do that also.)

What was the best advice you received?

Easy. Never give up.

In your free time, what can you be found doing?

Spending time with my family! Even if it’s a card game or dominoes, I love the time I spend with them.

What are you currently working on? Anything you can share regarding your current Work in Progress?

I have another series called Aumelan that is in revision at the moment. I hope to have it edited and sent out soon. There are also two YA novellas in the works, Tam and Treacle Tart.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?

You may find me at I’d love to have you stop by and check things out. You may purchase Cornerstone Deep at Class Act Books.
