Everything about him warned me to stay away.
I'd seen bad boys before, but he had it all and more. The rippling muscles covered in tatts, the piercing eyes hiding dark secrets, the silky voice that could make a girl come with just a whisper . . .

He was exactly the type of guy that would get me in trouble, but when he jumped off the stage, inked skin glistening with sweat and breathed his seductive words into my ear, I couldn't resist the temptation.

It was supposed to be the best one-night stand of my life, but fate didn't let it play out that way. Things happened. I got upset. I got hasty. And worst of all, I got reckless.

After that disaster, I thought it was the last I'd see of him. But what I didn't know was that I'd started something.

Something that could shatter the very thing I had worked so hard to protect.

I should have known back then that the most seductive things in life are also the most dangerous.

Priscilla West has done it again with her newest book Reckless. She has created a story about interesting characters who I found compelling and intriguing and caused me to lose sleep while I stayed up all night reading.

My interest was piqued from the first pages where we introduced to Riley. Riley may be an accountant, but she is the antithesis of the boring, staid, number cruncher. In fact, she was so different from what you would expect that I had to know more about her and her background. What makes her tick? What drives her?

Then as if Riley wasn’t interesting enough, we then meet our hero Jax. Ms. West’s description of Jax and his hypnotic singing abilities was so hot and steamy that I wanted more.  We got more, but that only whetted my appetite. There were so many layers to Jax and Ms. West peeled them away slowly building the tension to a fever pitch.

It was the characters that took center stage in Reckless and Ms. West kept the spotlight on Jax and Riley as they danced around the sexual current that was developing between them. While the will they or won’t they question had an obvious answer, the fun was in determining when their determination not to give in would finally break. I found myself on the edge of my seat waiting for the two to finally connect.

There were so many secrets in Jax and Riley’s background but Ms. West revealed them at a slow enough pace to keep you glued to the pages. Then just when I thought I had it all figured out, she would change course and leave me scratching my head. But through it all, I could not put my e-reader down.

One of the many reasons I love Ms. West’s writing is because of her ability to blend humor and drama. One minute you’re laughing at something the characters said, the next minute you’re shedding a few tears, and before you know it you’re laughing again. All of it flows smoothly and feels natural, just like real life.

Fair warning, Reckless is part one of a two part story so the reader is left on a bit of cliffhanger.  But that means we get more of Riley and Jax and that is certainly a positive. I’ll be counting down the days until these two troubled souls can get their happy ending.
